Shark sighting closes Kauai’s Kekaha Beach

Due to a shark sighting, ocean safety officials have closed Kekaha Beach to swimming until further notice.
Lifeguards report that a roughly 8-foot shark was sighted offshore, according to a Kauai Fire Department news release issued this afternoon. The type of shark is unknown.
Lifeguards will continue to monitor the beach.
On Wednesday morning the beach will be reassessed by lifeguards to determine whether it can be reopened.
