Another reason to get a vaccination
The state seems to be dealing with one community health scare after another — dengue fever, Zika virus and now hepatitis A. On Oahu, the number of confirmed hepatitis A cases climbed past 50, but the source of the outbreak is still unknown. Now, officials are urging all residents to consider getting vaccinated, especially anyone who consumed food or drinks at the Waikele Center Baskin-Robbins after officials confirmed a case of the contagious liver infection in an employee. For an island state like Hawaii, it’s good news to hear of top-notch performance from our top two interisland airlines.
First, Hawaiian Airlines, the state’s biggest-by-far carrier: In the World Airline Awards, it took top honors for Best Airline Staff, which recognizes service excellence across the board for front-line customer service. Hawaiian Air already enjoys top marks annually for punctuality, which sets a pretty high bar. Rising to the occasion is Island Air, which in June saw a 91 percent for on-time arrivals. Now, if only interisland fares could come down a bit, more folks might be enjoying all this wonderful service.
