Kauai police seek information on fatal hit-and-run crash
Kauai police continue to seek information for a hit-and-run accident that killed a 48-year-old man in Lihue in April.
Eric Shorr, of Wailua, was killed April 9 when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking on Kapule Highway, just north of the Hanamaulu Bridge.
Police described the truck in question as being a mid-2000’s slightly lifted Toyota Tacoma or similar body-style pickup truck with tires that extend outside of the body. It is believed to be either dark gray or black, but could be another dark color given the lighting conditions at the time of the crash. The paint was faded and possibly oxidized. It also had tubular pipe racks that are gray or silver in color.
The truck is believed to have sustained front-end damage as a result of the crash. There is likely hood damage near the center of the truck or toward the driver’s side. The back license plate is believed to have a blue-tinted license plate cover. The front license plate cover would likely be missing or newly replaced.
The truck continued on while bystanders in another vehicle stopped to assist the man and call for help. Schorr was transported to Wilcox Hospital where he later died.
Kauai police urge anyone with information on the incident to call Officer Shawn Hanna at 241-1618 or Police Dispatch, 241-1711. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 246-8300.
