    Sooooo, details?

    Was it the bicyclist’s fault?

Regardless of who’s fault it is, the bicyclist always ends up the looser. Bicyclists need to drive more defensively. They have to assume that every car coming at them is going to turn in front of them. They have to assume every parked car they pass will have someone fly their door open. They have to assume that every car stopped an an intersection is going to turn right on red right in front of them. I am not making excuses for poor driving by vehicle operators, simply that when their is a collision between a moving hunk of metal weighing thousands of pounds and an completely unprotected bicycle rider on a frail metal frame, we all know what the outcome is going to be.
You can have the right of way all the way to your grave.

As former bicyclist and HBL member, it is perhaps the same now as it was when I was an active cyclist…you will find those who take to the road with the attitude that they have “the right”. While with the HBL we attempted to advocate responsible and “being akamai” while on the road, “Bruddah no make sense be dead right…and let’s emphasize “dead”. I observe many cyclist riding in groups that ride responsibly…single file, holding their line, use of hand signals, modulating rear and front lamps…not too many audible signal devices. However, I also happen to run across those who behave badly…perhaps the most dangerous is riding side by side and then sudden leap frogging without looking…got to be safe and predictable.

He was injured when struck by a car, not after being struck by a car.
