Forecast calls for windy weekend with rain on Fourth of July
The National Weather Service says the holiday weekend will begin with windy conditions, followed by tradewind showers on the Fourth of July.
A wind advisory is posted for all islands from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Strong and gusty tradewinds of 15 to 30 mph, with gusts of 50 mph are expected. Winds will be strongest over mountain ridges and downslope of the mountains.
An area of moisture is expected to move near the state, bringing an increase of tradewind showers Sunday and Monday. Forecasters said some of the showers may move over leeward areas through Wednesday.
The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for windy conditions and partly sunny skies Friday and Saturday with highs of 83 to 89 degrees and lows between 73 and 80 degrees.
Scattered to isolated showers are expected Sunday through Wednesday with highs between 83 to 89 degrees and lows between 70 and 77 degrees.
