California junior college quarterback joining UH football team
Cole Brownholtz, a quarterback from Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif., will be joining the University of Hawaii football team next month.
“It’s a great situation,” said Brownholtz, who will enroll in UH’s Summer Session II and participate in training camp.
Brownholtz is 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 200 pounds. He is capable of throwing a football 70 yards.
As a freshman, Brownholtz completed 68 percent of his passes in league games in 2015, his only season at Sierra. He will have four years to play three UH seasons.
Two summers ago, Brownholtz participated in Nevada’s football camp for high school players. UH head coach Nick Rolovich was the Wolf Pack’s offensive coordinator at the time.
“Me and coach Rolovich have a really good relationship,” Brownholtz said.

On joining the Warriors, Brownholtz said: “It’s kind of a clean slate. Me and him are kind of coming the same year. And (Hawaii has) a great offense.”
Sierra ran a pass-volume “Air Raid” offense last year.
Brownholtz’s father played center at Georgia. An uncle, Billy Volek, was a quarterback who played 12 NFL seasons.
Football is “kind of in the blood,” Brownholtz said.
Brownholtz will be the fourth quarterback to join the Warriors this summer. Cole McDonald, a freshman from Sonora High in La Habra, Calif., is enrolled in UH’s bridge session that began on Monday. Dru Brown, who played at College of San Mateo last year, and Kyle Gallup, who was at Marshall in 2015, are set to report to training camp on July 31.

sounds like a June Jones team with all those QB’s.
What’s with all this QB’s.
competition breeds excellence!
Yup, and unfortunately 2 will leave next year for more playing time.
Let’s pray in a couple of years one of them will stand head above shoulders over the qb competitors.
6’4″ is good. Need to put some meat on his bones.
Keep those arms comin’. I rememember Billy Volek from Fresno State. Didn’t do too bad in the NFL. Volek could throw the ball all over the the place all day. WRs will be very busy come fall camp, no shortage of QBs to throw the ball. Fill the sky and let it rain footballs. Throw the ball all over the place. Go ‘Bows.
Just need to find one that gives us hope like with Colt Brennan, I felt we could win every game. Unlike last season where I knew we couldn’t win with what we had.
With all these quarterbacks with no offensive line to protect them isn’t a pretty picture.
What’s with his “Me and…” ???
How about a little modesty and better English: “… and I”
Not short on QBs. Now UH needs to amass more depth at all the other positions to become competitive. Go Bows!
