>> Dignity Honolulu. Celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family with Dignity Honolulu (LGBTQI Catholics) at its Christmas liturgy at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 2062 S. King St. Presiding at Mass will be Bishop Jack Isbell and Father Nick Eyre of the Ecumenical Catholic Church. A social follows. Call 352-7558.

>> Japanese New Year. Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha — Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu will offer traditional Shinto blessings for Japanese Hatsumode observances from midnight Monday to 4 p.m. Tuesday at 1239 Olomea St. Complimentary bowls of ozoni mochi soup will be served from midnight to 2 a.m.; and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Omamori good luck charms, ofuda and kumade will also be available. On New Year’s Day only, off-site parking will be available at Damien School, 1401 Houghtailing St., with a free shuttle bus from midnight to 3 a.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 841-4755 or email kotohira@hawaiiantel.net for the full schedule of New Year rituals.

>> Hongwanji New Year. Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin will ring the temple bell 100 times in a special New Year’s Eve service at 11 p.m. Monday at 1727 Pali Highway. Speakers will be the Rev. Hasebe (Japanese message) and Rimban Hagio (English message). On New Year’s Day a special service will be held at 10 a.m. Speakers will be Hagio (Japanese message) and Bishop Eric Matsumoto (English message). Call 536-7044.
