Snow falls on Mauna Kea as wet weather moves over the islands
Unstable and cold atmospheric conditions brought heavy showers to North Kohala and snow to Mauna Kea on Hawaii island today.
Forecasters said radar showed heavy rain and thunderstorms over the Big Island this afternoon. But a flood advisory for North Kohala and Kona expired at 6:30 p.m.
Forecasters say the wetter than usual tradewind weather will continue into Wednesday.
Most of the rain is expected in windward areas, but scattered showers may be blown over to leeward sides.
The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for scattered showers this afternoon and mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers tonight.
Scattered showers are expected Wednesday with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions.
