Woman charged in identity theft case
Two months ago, a 33-year-old homeless woman stole the identity of a 26-year-old woman and tried to withdraw $3,600 from the victim’s Bank of Hawaii checking account.
Police said the incident, which occurred on April 13 at a Pearl City Bank of Hawaii location, was captured on surveillance footage.
Sheri Shimizu was arrested Tuesday and charged a day later with second-degree theft, second-degree forgery, second-degree identity theft and unauthorized possession of personal information. Her bail was set at $20,000.
