What will be the next casino to open in Las Vegas? The favorite appears to be the Lucky Dragon — a 204-room boutique hotel with a 27,500-square-foot casino, multiple restaurants and a spa — nearing completion on Sahara Avenue just north of the Strip.
Whereas the resort appeared to be on a fast track to completion at the end of 2015, early this year reports surfaced that building had been halted due to financing problems.
Its development company now indicates that financing is in place to open before the end of the year. The unique project is being billed as the “first casino resort to deliver an authentic Asian lifestyle experience” in Las Vegas. Lucky Dragon’s distinctive features will include signs in Chinese first and English second, multilingual staff members and a high-end tea garden.
Twofer brunch: On Sundays in June (except June 19), get a 2-for-1 brunch at Silverton.
No gambling necessary for this one, just print out the necessary coupon at a casino kiosk.
Free cupcakes: As part of the Fremont’s ongoing 60th-anniversary celebration, the downtown casino is giving away free cupcakes on Thursdays at
2 p.m. in the Filament bar.
Downtown pool: The Plaza has announced that its completely redesigned pool complex will open July 2. New features for the rooftop pool include cabanas, a 12-person hot tub and renovated tennis, basketball and pickleball courts.
The opening-day festivities will conclude with a fireworks show.
Question: How much should I tip when I hit a jackpot? And if there are two attendants, should I tip them both?
Answer: It’s a personal choice, but 2 percent to
4 percent, perhaps depending on your familiarity with the staff, is a reasonable rule of thumb.
That’s $20 to $40 on a $1,000 jackpot, which can be split between two attendants or handed to one while saying, “This is for both of you.”
