Firefighters clear Costco Iwilei
A refrigerant leak caused a brief evacuation at Costco Iwilei Saturday.
The refrigerant, Freon 22, began leaking while technicians were doing regular refrigerator maintenance work at about 2:50 p.m., said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Kendall Ching.
Technicians were able to shut off some valves, but store officials called firefighters to test the air quality and the building was evacuated.
A fire hazmat unit determined the air quality was normal and the evacuation was lifted about 3:25 p.m.

Going just by the headline, why would you need to clear the building after it had already been evacuated?
I think by clear they mean they said the building is safe for human entry
I did know that, but thanks anyway.
Suggestion 1: “Firefighters clear Costco Iwilei FOR REENTRY after evacuation”
Suggestion 2: Go back to school!
Isn’t it nice that there are people that explain things nicely like “goodday”. Too bad there are more people like you around.
just a thought, why don’t they do refrigerator maintenance work when the store is closed to the public !
Not a bad idea. Costco shutting down on a holiday weekend is a big deal, especially since it is the busiest Costco in the country.
