A 20-year-old Hauula man was arrested this week in connection with a 2015 rollover crash in Laie that killed a 27-year-old woman.
Police said the man was apparently speeding and intoxicated when he crashed through a fence in Laie and rolled his vehicle several times. He was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree negligent homicide and released pending further investigation.
The medical examiner said Nakita Bryant died of blunt force injury to her head.
Police said both occupants of the car were intoxicated when the accident occurred at 1:50 a.m. March 18, 2015, when the vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a fence and rolled several times in an open field off Kamehameha Highway at Wahinepee Street fronting Gunstock Ranch.
Both occupants were thrown from the car. Bryant died at the scene, and paramedics took the driver in serious condition to a hospital.
In a report on the accident to the Honolulu Police Commission last year, Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha said the driver involved in the single-vehicle fatal crash was traveling at an estimated speed of 100 mph.
