Hawaii javelin throwers Karen Bulger and Felicianna Vasquez missed the qualifying mark for the national meet at Thursday’s NCAA West Preliminary Championships in Lawrence, Kan.

Bulger finished with a throw of 44.78 meters (146 feet, 11 inches) and Vasquez’s best throw of the day was 35.95 (117-11). The top 12 finishers advance to the NCAA Championships and both Rainbow Wahine were behind that group when competition was suspended due to lightning.
