Broken hydrant floods Kalihi home, displacing family of 7
A broken hydrant flooded a home, displacing a family of seven tonight in Kalihi, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
A construction truck hit the hydrant about 5:40 p.m. near 1472 Konia St., and the broken hydrant sprayed water onto an adjacent home, said HFD Capt. David Jenkins.
Firefighters shut off the water about 5:55 p.m., but the home was flooded and the family could not stay there, he said.
The American Red Cross was assisting the family.
