A sign offering a cool beer along a dusty road in the African nation of Malawi was doubly enticing for Shelley Wong because of the wayside stop’s unlikely name:Honolulu. Carlsberg is a Danish brew that is the go-to brand for beer in the country, said the Alewa resident. “This area is pretty rural and away from the city, so this sign was a pleasant surprise,” said Wong, who was in Malawi volunteering with Project Peanut Butter, a nonprofit addressing childhood malnutrition.
