Honolulu Police Department patrol officer Jared Spiker was named as the department’s 2016 metropolitan police officer at a recent awards ceremony.

Spiker, who has been a police officer for two years, is near or at the top in almost every statistical category for a patrol officer, HPD said in a news release.

During a 12-month period, Spiker made more than 200 arrests ranging from felony and misdemeanor cases, to motorists driving under the influence and warrants. He also issued nearly 1,200 hazardous and moving traffic citations.

Other awards made May 19 at a McCoy Pavilion ceremony included:

» Corporal of the Year: Timothy Spencer, a 27-year veteran.

» Sergeant of the Year: Barry Tong, a 31-year veteran. Tong was also named by The 200 Club as the HPD’s 2016 Police Officer of the Year.

» Detective of the Year: Mike Lambert, a 13-year veteran.

» Lieutenant of the Year: Thomas Santos, a 20-year veteran.

» Reserve Officer of the Year: Robert Guieb,who has been a reserve officer for 24 years and is assigned to the Narcotics/Vice Division. Guieb was also named by The 200 Club as the HPD’s 2016 Reserve Officer of the Year.

» Police Parent of the Year: Sgt Jason Allen. He and his wife of 12 years have four children. Currently, he is a head coach with the Manoa Youth Baseball League. Allen was also named by The 200 Club as the HPD’s 2016 Police Parent of the Year.

» Civilian Manager/Supervisor of the Year: Warren Izumigawa, who manages the Telecommunications Systems Section. Izumigawa has nearly 30 years of service. Izumigawa is also a master sergeant in the Hawaii Air National Guard 293rd Combat Communications Squadron. Izumigawa was also named by The 200 Club as the HPD’s 2016 Civilian Employee of the Year.

» Civilian Employee of the Year: Brian Tom, Finance Division

» Citizenship Award: Gale Braceros, Weed & Seed coordinator of Ewa Beach. Braceros was also The 200 Club’s recipient of the Citizenship Award.
