Six dogs were taken from the Kauai Humane Society shelter in a burglary over the weekend, police said Tuesday.
The suspect or suspects cut a side gate lock to gain access to the dogs sometime after nightfall Saturday and before 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
The stolen dogs include three female pit bull mixes ranging from 2 to 7 years old, and two female Airedale terriers, ages 2 and 5.
Also stolen was a 2-month-old female Labrador-mix puppy named Arianna, who is outfitted with a microchip.
The Kauai Police Department has opened a burglary case, and the Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the burglary.

Molokai blaze nears airport and residence
Firefighters battled a 1-acre brush fire off Maunaloa Highway about a quarter-mile from a runway at Molokai Airport on Monday.
Employees from the airport control tower reported the blaze at about 2:15 p.m. Firefighters from Hoolehua brought the fire under control by 2:44 p.m. and had it extinguished by 5:52 p.m.
Flames came came within 100 feet of a residential structure. The structure was not damaged and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
