Clouds and showers are expected to diminish overnight, but there’s still a slight chance of heavy rain or even a thunderstorm as unstable weather conditions linger over the islands through the early evening.

The National Weather Service said moisture from what’s left of a weather system that brought heavy rains to Maui Friday afternoon and earlier in the week could move north over Oahu and Kauai.

Skies should clear Sunday morning but will likely become cloudy with the chance of showers in the afternoon because of daytime heating.

Vog is also possibly because of the light winds, turning southerly Sunday.

The increased chance of rain continues through next week.

The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for an 80 percent chance of rain today and tonight with highs between 76 and 86 degrees. Lows will be between 65 and 73 degrees, with light east to northeast trades of 10 mph or less.

Sunday’s forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of rain and light trades turning southerly by afternoon. Skies should be sunny with isolated showers in the morning, turning cloudy with scattered showers.
