Kuhio Beach restroom vandalism costs city $2,500

Clothing flushed down a toilet closed the women’s bathroom next to the Waikiki Police Station Wednesday. It cost the city $2,500 to remove the clothing and restore service.
Clothing stuffed down a toilet forced the city to shut down the heavily used Kuhio Beach Park women’s restroom, next to the Waikiki police substation, Wednesday evening.
The restroom reopened Thursday afternoon, but the damage cost taxpayers about $2,500 because the Department of Parks and Recreation had to hire Alaka‘i Mechanical Corp. to remove the clothing and restore service, city spokesman Andrew Perreira said.
The same bathroom has been vandalized repeatedly in recent years, he said.
The men’s side was not affected, Perreira said.
There have been a number of vandalism incidents at city park restrooms since the beginning of the year across the island, including Fern Community Park in Kalihi, Kaiaka Bay Beach Park in Haleiwa, Keehi Lagoon Beach Park in Kalihi and Ala Moana Regional Park in Kakaako.

Darn tourists.
This an assault on all of the public.
Somehow, I don’t think an exceedingly elderly woman did that.
Give the homeless a job and make them clean it and maybe they will not do things like that. Pay them $8.00 an hour and I’m sure they will not let anyone mess up their turf.
