A 53-year-old Nanakuli man held a 31-year-old woman against her will for two days and threatened her with a weapon, police said.
The woman escaped Saturday afternoon, and the suspect allegedly assaulted a 46-year-old man who tried to help her.
Officers arrested the Nanakuli man Saturday evening at his home on Hakimo Road without incident. He is being held on suspicion of kidnapping, terroristic threatening, abuse of a family member and assault.
5 displaced by Wahiawa house fire
Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Wahiawa home, causing nearly $200,000 in damage and leaving five people displaced.
Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said Sunday that the fire caused $173,000 in damage to the structure, $15,000 in damage to the contents and $10,650 in damage to nearby property.
The fire erupted shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday at 246 Olive Ave. The Red Cross was called to assist. One man was home at the time but escaped without injury.
