Man allegedly assaults driver who told him to stop smoking on the bus
A 20-year-old man was arrested Saturday in downtown after he assaulted a city bus driver who told him to stop smoking on the bus, police said.
The man attacked the 47-year-old male driver after the driver told him that smoking was not allowed on the bus about 7:20 p.m., police said.
Police arrested the man, of no local address, for investigation of interference with the operator of a public transit vehicle on South Hotel Street.

Lite a cigarette and put it out on his cheek…branded for life…
more homeless assaults on the hard working public.
Hole em up in the Slammers with Bubba
Some people just gotta get a hit RIGHT NOW.
On Thursday around 6:30 p.m. at a bus stop near Waikiki, with buses on this route heading town bound/toward Hotel Street (route 2, route 1), I witnessed a man who appeared to be around 20 years of age who was brazenly smoking several cigarettes even though there were many people surrounding him, waiting at this bus stop. At one point a police car stopped near the bus stop at a traffic light and this man then concealed the cigarette he was smoking, holding it behind his back. When the policeman drove away, this man continued puffing away.
Got to love Caldwell and our impotent city council for how they’ve dealt with homeless.
The buck stops where?
Same guy on Saturday?
Entitled.
If this nit-wit assaulted the bus driver while he was driving and there were passengers on board he should be charged also with endagering people onboard and the general public, but the article doesn’t go into any details?
Kudos to the driver for doing his job; he should be given a raise and promotion for his courageous action.
someone tell this nitwit he also can’t smoke in jail.
Tie him up to a chair and then burn him with cigarettes….bet he’ll get the message!
City bus riders are pretty well protected as they have drivers who will intervene on behalf of their riders because they know if they are assaulted it is a felony to assault them and jury will tend to side with the bus driver to give the attacker serious jail time. This guy just for smoking a cig on the bus and then hassling the bus driver can and probably will end up with a prison sentence. The Oahu train will be driver less so if a train rider is hassled or attacked by a similar bully, perv, troublemaker or mental patient, train riders are on their own and don’t expect the camera to save them as a troublemaker, robber, perv can quickly shoot some spray paint to disable the in car camera train and then do what they are going to do with impunity. Of course all these rich folks working on the train project will make dang sure their kids NEVER ride the train and provide them with a nice car to drive to Punah or Iolan during the school day.
Hope the driver gave this dummy a few cracks back…..
Catch and release…another transient vagrant set loose again….
Only to empower him to become more brazen? In colonial days they punished dodos like him publicly by locking him in stockade and allowed the local citizenry to mock him!
