Former Hawaii quarterback Wittek reaches deal with Jaguars

Former University of Hawaii quarterback Max Wittek has reached agreement on a free-agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Wittek, who played one season at UH after transferring from USC in August 2014, was not selected in this weekend’s NFL draft. But 10 teams had expressed interest in Wittek, who is 6-foot-3, 233 pounds and has a powerful right arm.
Wittek endured injuries to both knees to play in eight of 13 games last season. He underwent successful surgery on his right knee in November, then performed well at UH’s pro day last month in Azusa, Calif.

Good luck to him but he was not impressive playing last year. Not accurate and panics under pressure.
He just needs to stay healthy. Playing banged up like he did last season probably was going to sink any QB no matter how much potential you have.

The Pros seem to think that they can “coach” the mental aspects and decision making process of the game and it seems that more times than not, at least with QBs, they are wrong. But then again, he might find a coach and a system where he can play. His former team-mate got drafted in the 3rd round.
You would panic too if your life was in danger as ALL QBs under Chow was. In retrospect, we never really got to see how good Schroeder, Graham, or Wittek might have been because of the atrocious coaching by that stubborn old man. No UH player recruited by Chow has come close to being drafted (not that I can recall) and the only reason why Wittek is getting a look is because all NFL teams are desperate in their search for adequate QBs.

Yes, tail, what did you said about Wittek? He will never get drafted. Shows you how much know about evaluating players. Always demeaning people who have a different opinion.
Oxtail states that the ONLY reason he is being looked at is because NFL teams are desperate. He has no clue what he is talking about.
You and makule really need to spend some time learning about football. Please tell makule there’s a difference between signing as a free agent and getting drafted, or like him, you have no clue as to the difference?

I thought that he was the opposite of the term “quick release”, his release was slow like molasses and it gave defenders a whole second and a half to know where the pass was going.

Surprising, he wasn’t very good at all for UH.
Max had a very poor OC/HC who made the calls; how can we blame him for the lack of offensive productivity? Too bad he also got injured pretty badly what with a poor OL protection.
I’m glad he got a chance to play pro-ball in the NFL. We’ll see how he does, good luck, Max.
