It’s always amusing to watch our lawmakers at work — especially to see how a problem is cast as a mountain, or a molehill, depending on political alliances.
Back in the day, it was all mountains and alps for Republican Gov. Linda Lingle, even when it came to manini problems or reasonable proferred solutions.
Now comes Democratic Gov. David Ige, a former longtime state legislator, who has pledged to cool 1,000 hot public classrooms by year’s end, via a dubious proposal to borrow $100 million from a green-energy loans program. Both House and Senate are keeping hopes alive, with each chamber proposing fancy financing schemes.
“There’s no hang-ups, per se,” assured one lead lawmaker in the negotiations. Good to know — $100 million, it seems, can be found under that molehill.
