Minjee Lee tees off on the first hole of the Lotte Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club on Wednesday.

Minjee Lee fired a 6-under-par 66 today and will take a two-stroke lead into the third round of the Lotte Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club.

Lee began the day tied for the lead and moved ahead with five birdies in a six-hole stretch midway through her bogey-free round.

Lee enters the third round two shots ahead of Katie Burnett, who also carded a 66 to move 8 under. Su-Yeon Jang, who was given a sponsor’s exemption into the field, led the morning wave with a 66 and will join Lee and Burnett in Friday’s final grouping at 7 under.

Defending champion Sei Young Kim and Moriya Jutanugarn, who shared the first-round lead with Lee, are another stroke back at 6 under.

Punahou graduate Stephanie Kono shot a 71 today to move to 1 under for the tournament and made the cut for the first time in three appearances in the event.

Buffanblu senior Allisen Corpuz shot an even-par 72 today to close her first LPGA Tour event at 5 over. Michelle Wie also missed the cut at 9 over, following her 80 in the opening round with a 73 today.

One has to wonder why Wie doesn’t try to change her game, especially her swing and swing coach. She’s still young but eventually she will be forgotten. For gosh sake, it can’t get any worse than not making the cut in your Home state tournament.
