Hawaii heads into the postseason with a new ranking, moving up a spot to No. 8 in Monday’s AVCA Coaches Men’s Volleyball Top 15.
The Rainbow Warriors (16-11, 11-11), seeded seventh in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament, are at second-seeded UCLA on Saturday. The Bruins (23-5, 17-5) moved up a spot to No. 3 in the poll.
Top-seeded Brigham Young (23-3, 19-3) remained at No. 1, receiving 13 of the 20 first-place votes. Ohio State (25-3) stayed at No. 2 with the other seven votes and Long Beach State (22-5, 17-5) moved to No. 4 in the poll.
Stanford (19-5, 17-5) dropped two places to No. 5 after losing two road matches last week. The Cardinal, seeded fourth in the MPSF tournament, host fifth-seeded UC Santa Barbara (19-9, 14-8), which moved up to No. 6 in Monday’s poll.
UH stays at No. 5 in beach poll
A bye week did not affect Hawaii’s rank, as the Rainbow Wahine remained at No. 5 in Monday’s AVCA Collegiate Beach Top 10.
Defending AVCA national champion USC replaced Pepperdine at No. 1 after the Women of Troy (19-2) edged the Waves (15-2) last week 3-2. Florida State (20-1) stayed at No. 3 and UCLA (14-4) at No. 4.
Hawaii (10-6) hosts Boise State today at the Ching Complex courts at 5 p.m., the regular-season home finale.
