The Office of Hawaiian Affairs reported Thursday that Board of Trustees Chairman Robert K. Lindsey Jr. is taking a medical leave of absence after suffering a stroke late last month.
A statement from OHA said Lindsey is expected to rejoin the trustees “in the near future. He is recuperating and on the mend. He is also in good spirits as he focuses on a fast and full recovery.”
Lindsey, 67, has represented Hawaii island as an OHA trustee since 2007. He is retired from Kamehameha Schools, where he was director of the Land Assets Division on Hawaii island. Before that he was a park ranger with the National Park Service.
Kauai planning workshop, tours set for April 28
The Kauai County Planning Department is conducting a workshop to see how the East Kauai Planning District might change in the future.
The workshop, part of the county general plan update, will get underway at 8 a.m. April 28 in the All Saints Church gym in Kapaa. A closing presentation will start at 5 p.m.
The district covers Wailua, Kapaa and Anahola.
County officials said in a news release Thursday that the workshop will provide participants an opportunity to talk about preferences regarding proposed changes and preservation efforts in the district.
The event will also offer bus and walking tours. To reserve spots on the tours, call 241-4061 or email plankauai@kauai.gov by April 18.
