“Hawaii Five-0” will return for a seventh season this fall, according to CBS, which announced the renewal Friday.
CBS usually unveils its fall lineup in May but announced the “Five-0” renewal along with 10 other shows: “Blue Bloods,” “Elementary,” “Madam Secretary,” “Mom,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Scorpion,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race.”
But a network spokeswoman also said Friday that it was too early to know whether CBS would host another Sunset on the Beach preview of Season 7 for Hawaii fans. The event, which has been held at the start of each previous season, annually attracts thousands of fans who come from around the world to see the new season’s first episode and greet the stars at a red-carpet arrival.
“Five-0” is wrapping up its current season and will hold a cast party next week.
“Five-0” will air its final episodes of the current, 25-episode season, with a two-hour finale May 13.
The current version of “Five-0,” a reboot of the original series, stars Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin as lawman Steve McGarrett. It premiered in September 2010.
The original series starred Jack Lord as McGarrett and ran for 12 seasons, from 1968 until 1980.
State officials have estimated that the show contributes about $60 million a year to the Hawaii economy.
