If you are celebrating Easter, you’re in good company: Honolulu is one of the optimal cities for this activity.
WalletHub.com, the website that tracks personal-finance statistics, ranks Honolulu No. 9 best on its 2016 list of Best and Worst Cities for Easter Celebrations.
What drags this town down is its No. 54 rank for the Easter weather forecast, evidently noting the storm advisories. But Honolulu has the third most flower and gift shops per capita, according to the site. And we’re No. 1 in the number of chocolate shops and candy stores.
Happy Easter, Honolulu — even if it means staying indoors. And don’t eat too many of those chocolate eggs.
Reality of rail become more real
Honolulu’s first two rail cars arrived Thursday in all their shrink-wrapped glory — each valued at $2.2 million. Two more cars that will complete the rail’s first train are expected to arrive Monday.
It’s yet another step toward completing Honolulu’s $6.56 billion rail transit system. The cars will feature free Wi-Fi service, call boxes and closed-circuit TV for security. Passengers will be able to move freely between cars to find open seating, and each train will be able to carry 800 passengers. Groundbreaking ceremonies are planned this week for stations in West Oahu.
