Cruz-Trump spat over wives takes nastier turn

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and wife Heidi, walked on stage before the candidate spoke at a campaign stop today in Dane, Wis.

DANE, Wis. » Ted Cruz branded Donald Trump a “sniveling coward” today as the feud between the Republican presidential contenders over their wives took a nastier turn.

After an earlier and vague threat to “spill the beans” about Heidi Cruz, Trump stoked the spat on Twitter when he retweeted side-by-side images of Cruz’s wife, with an unflattering grimace, and his wife, Melania, in a glamorous pose.

“No need to spill the beans,” said the caption. “The images are worth a thousand words.”

Ted Cruz, campaigning in Wisconsin, was livid.

“Leave Heidi the hell alone,” Cruz said, speaking through reporters to Trump.

“Donald does seem to have an issue with women,” he said. “Donald doesn’t like strong women. Strong women scare Donald.”

Trump was set off this week when a group that opposes him released an ad before the Utah presidential contest raising questions about the propriety of Melania Trump becoming first lady. The ad showed a provocative, decade-old magazine photo of her when she was a model and before she married Trump.

Trump wrongly attributed the ad to the Cruz campaign and warned on Twitter: “Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”

The lurch into personal territory normally off limits in campaigns came as an anti-Trump super PAC ran an ad in primary states that features women reciting derogatory comments made by the billionaire about women. The ad was produced by Our Principles, a group founded by a former Mitt Romney campaign adviser who is trying to help the Republican Party appeal to more women.

Trump has a substantial lead in the delegate chase for the GOP nomination. Cruz has a stiff challenge trying to catch him in remaining races and may only have a shot at the nomination if the contest spills into the summer convention.

Mr. Trump has a negative or very negative rating of 65% of the general population of women. He is unable to win the general election, but his name on the ballot as the Republican nominee (I hope! I hope! I hope!) will cause the Senate to switch to Democratic control. Go Trump!

Maybe we gotta let these guys grow up before we elect them into adult, responsible positions that affect global issues.

Cruz is just as much of a pig as Trump. And yet these are the top two GOP contenders. That’s why Hillary is going to win the general election. It’s a sad day when Trump and Cruz represent half of America.

once again the presidential election will come down to a choice between horrible and terrible

One of Cruz’s supposed support PAC’s started the whole thing. Was Cruz and company behind this dirty trick to smear Trump’s wife. Maybe but it would be hard to find
the evidence. Kind of like what happened to Carson when the Trump organization made it seem that Carson was dropping out so they pushed people to vote for Cruz if they had been
a Carson supporter. Again hard to pin this directly to Cruz but it does seem strange that this kind of thing happens again but this time, Trump is the target.
Coincidence?? Maybe if you believe in coincidences.
I used to like Cruz as he always seemed to say the right things about illegal immigration, gun rights, the importance of the First and Second Amendment and he was willing to fight
against the RINO’s in his own party but now I an not sure, especially after learning about his close ties to George W. Bush and his wife’s previous high position job at the State Dept
under George W’s Administration and her membership with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR0, a one world front organization and her job as the head of the Houston office
for Goldman Sachs from which she is currently on “leave”. Makes me wonder, if Cruz is really what he presents himself to be or is he a “Trojan Horse” and the front man for the New World Order and the Bush Crime Family.

It might be a good idea for everyone to read the transcript of this interview. I believe it highlights Trump’s many shortcomings…although I think it does show his ability to deflect and change topics. He’s a great businessman, and self marketer, just not a president.

Trump’s emotional and personal development seems to have frozen when he was 10 years old. He is a nasty 10-year old bully inside a bloated adult body.

Two clowns. How sad that these two will drag their wives into the picture.Trump may be good running his company but as a president he would be terrible.
You just listen to him talk it would turn off the leaders of other countries. I think Hillary with all her baggage can still do the job.

  9. FoghornLeghorn says:

All of you saying Hillary is better for the country because she is staying out of these spats the only reason she is staying out of it because the minute she aggravates someone she will be destroyed i dont know how many times she has to be caught doing terrible things to Americans before people realize she will be a terrible idea for president she has done so many wrong things and she is getting loved by women because she is a women because if shes elected the people who elect her will “make history” just like they did by voting for Obama but guess what sometimes you dont want to be a part of this history unless you want things to go crazy why dont you tell the families of the people who were killed in Benghazi “hey you know sorry about your loss but the person who made sure they weren’t saved and did everything she could to keep it hidden from the public gets my vote cause shes a woman and that is so special” i dont understand. How many times does someone have to make gigantic mistakes that cost people their lives before people dont want to vote for them?

  10. lespark says:

Mr. Trump is on a mission. He wants to be the President, get rid of a Congress that does nothing and the Republican Party.
It looks like he is on his way. Vote Trump.
The Super Pacs and Wall Street have control over Cruz and Hillary. If they are the nominees they can’t lose can they. Vote against the Super Pacs. Vote Trump.
