The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual Financial Literacy Fair on April 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Tamarind Park, Bishop Square, in downtown Honolulu.
As part of Financial Literacy Month in April, the DCCA’s Office of the Securities Commissioner is hosting an exhibitor’s fair to provide free financial literacy information to the general public. The event will feature various nonprofit organizations and government agencies that will provide materials on managing wealth, homeownership preparation, dealing with credit, planning for retirement, filing taxes and avoiding being a victim of financial fraud.
Men’s salon bound for Kakaako
Hawaii’s first Eighteen Eight men’s salon location will set up in SALT, Kamehameha Schools’ retail and restaurant development in Kakaako.
The salon will be on the street level of Keawe Street, across from The Collection condominium tower, said franchisee Rebecca Gustafson. She said she expects to open in September and might add two more locations later.
Services offered include haircuts and styling; treatments for skin, scalp and nails; shaves; waxing; coloring services; and groom or bachelor party packages at which beer is available. That means among the permits the salons will need to obtain will be a liquor license.
Haircuts could start in the mid- to upper-$40 range, Gustafson estimated in November, with additional services adding to the price, though memberships that include special pricing also are offered.
