Rescue personnel on Maui are trying to reach one hiker after rescuing 12 others who were stranded when flash flooding occurred at Makamakaole Gulch off Kahekili Highway between Waihee and Kahakuloa Village.

The Maui Fire Department said it conducted a rescue mission for the stranded hikers and have safely extricated 12 of them, but one hiker is located in an area that is difficult to get to.

Rescue 10 aboard Air 1 along with Engine 1 from Wailuku responded to a call for help in the incident at 2:49 p.m.
