A wildfire in Nanakuli Valley continued burning out of control Sunday, but was not threatening any homes, firefighters said.
The fire had grown to about 2,000 acres and was uncontained, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. James Todd.
Six helicopters were making water drops, including two HFD choppers and four from the state Division of Forestry and Wildlife, and about 50 Honolulu firefighters were fighting the fire on the ground. Todd said windy conditions continued to hinder operations.
The fire, which started on the Ko Olina side of the valley Thursday evening, was burning along the Makaha side of the valley Sunday.
