UH baseball wins second straight over Chicago State

Marcus Doi went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Alex Hatch allowed one run over six innings in Hawaii’s 4-1 win over Chicago State tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.

Doi singled twice and then ripped a leadoff triple in the seventh inning to record his first three-hit game in nearly a year.

Jacob Sheldon-Collins had two hits and an RBI after missing the previous two games with the flu and Kekai Rios doubled and scored in a three-run fifth inning for Hawaii (8-12).

Hatch (2-2) tied a career high with seven strikeouts and allowed six hits to earn the win.

Dillion Engle (1-4) allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings to take the loss for the Cougars (5-12).

Cody Culp pitched for the third straight game and allowed one hit and struck out three to earn a three-inning save.

A victory in the finale on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. would give Hawaii its first four-game series win of the season.
