The Honolulu Hawaii Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present its annual summer pops concert, “Celebrate America,” at 7 p.m. June 21 and 22 at the Honolulu Tabernacle.
Midway between Flag Day and the Fourth of July, the free concert will have a patriotic theme, featuring marches and anthems. There will be performances by the church’s concert choir and orchestra under the direction of Craig Young, director of orchestras at Punahou School; and by the children’s choir, led by Beth Uale. Drill Team Hawaii, a precision competition dance team, and guest vocalist Stacy Alencastre will also perform.
In the spirit of the concert’s theme, attendees may wear red, white and blue. From 6 to 6:30 p.m. only on opening night, June 21, red, white and blue treats will be served.
