Native Hawaiian group won’t hold vote to ratify constitution
The group that organized a gathering of Native Hawaiians to draft a constitution for self-governance says it won’t hold a vote to ratify the document.
Nai Aupuni said in a statement Wednesday the gathering’s participants are the best ones to take the next steps on the constitution.
The participants last month approved the constitution by an 88-30 vote. The document allows room for recognition by the U.S. government while holding out for the possibility of independence.
Nai Aupuni has faced legal challenges to its efforts. Plaintiffs sued, alleging a race-based election for 40 representatives to the convention was unconstitutional.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued an injunction that prevented votes from being counted, so Nai Aupuni canceled the election and instead invited all 196 candidates to participate.

The 150 unelected delegates get to decide this huge issue?
Yeah, you Hawaiians need to shut up and do what we tell you or face the consequences. The constitution is now adopted. We decided.
this group is consistent in presenting evidence that it is unqualified to administer functions of a government.
Make believe government.
What a farce.
Apparently, the organizers of this whole fiasco have either been unable to find anyone to pay for an election, or they are afraid they will not get a significant number of Hawaiians to vote for their constitution. The U.S Interior Department requires an election with substantial support for acceptance of a governing document to organize a “tribe.” The litigation that Kuhio Asam speaks of is in reference to the back door funding of the aborted race based election by OHA, a government agency. They know they will lose, so they are just calling it quits. What a cop-out to say the the participants should take the next step, whatever it might be. Game over.
Oh, if only danny was here. Oh well, at least a few of his cronies are still able to pull strings, however weakly and ineffectively. Larry is gone. Danny is gone. Who will be next? It’s really hard to cover up crimes as large as danny did but you have to give the royalists credit, they never stop trying. A couple of federal indictments would help but this is not going to happen because for fifty years the local federal law enforcement officials have all been Dan Inouye’s hand picked choices.
The word from Washington was that their little tea party at which the 88 votes in favor of their racist arbitrary one drop nation was not even half of the invited parties. That would have required 98 or more votes in favor. So they must go back to their wig wams and figure out another way to become Indians in order to keep their over 855 race based for Polynesian Hawaiian programs. Illegal raced based schools. Illegal race based homesteading program. Oh well I guess they are just not able to make it on their own like all other races in the world.
