Makakilo brush fire damages irrigation system
Arcing wires from a utility pole ignited a brushfire in Makakilo late this morning, damaging an irrigation system.
The Honolulu Fire Department said it responded to the fire at 11:38 a.m. near 92-929 Hame Place, where strong winds were quicly spreading the flames.
Seven fire companies staffed with 20 personnel contained the fire by 12:20 p.m. Approximately one half acre burned and an irrigation system was damaged. No injuries were reported.
The fire department said it was determined the fire was caused by arcing wires from a utility pole.
