NAACP demands apology for photo of black man’s hanging at Joe’s Crab Shack
ROSEVILLE, Minn. » The Minneapolis NAACP has demanded an apology from Joe’s Crab Shack after diners at a restaurant in a St. Paul suburb complained that their table was embedded with a photo depicting the hanging of a black man in Texas in 1895.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the diners were waiting for their meals at the Roseville restaurant Wednesday when they noticed the photo, including a cartoon bubble coming from the hanged man’s head reading: “All I said was, ‘I don’t like the gumbo!’”
At a news conference outside the restaurant Thursday, the NAACP called the image “egregious,” demanding an apology and the removal of racist imagery from all Joe’s Crab Shack restaurants.
Parent company Ignite Restaurant Group issued an apology and removed the table.

Some designer thought it was funny. I’m torn between thinking it’s either someone very old or someone very young.
OMG! Disturbing to think this seemed “O.K.” with management/corporate or whoever(s)was responsible for “décor”. The image and caption on this table – disgusting indeed!

It was just a joke, or did anybody not understand it?
A joke that is in extremely poor taste. You wouldn’t think it was funny if it were a loved one of yours. Thank God those days are long gone. Unfortunately, some people STILL don’t get it. Unbelievable in this day and age.
Jokes are not funny when they are in such poor taste.
Anybody who would ask a question like yours has no business asking anybody else if they understand anything.
It’s hard to believe that incidents like this still happen. What were they thinking? Oh yeah… thinking seems to be an endangered commodity these days.
