7 pounds of meth seized from Kauai house
Kauai police arrested two men Tuesday and recovered methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $1 million.
Some 7 pounds of methamphetamine was recovered from a Hanamaulu home Tuesday morning after police executed a search warrant on the residence, police said in a news release Wednesday. Officers also recovered other drugs, about $2,000 in cash and a stolen handgun, police said.
In the release, police Chief Darryl Perry said the quantity of methamphetamine recovered is the largest amount seized by the Kauai Police Department in a “single incident.”
A 24-year-old Hanamaulu man and a 28-year-old California man reside in the home, police said. Both were arrested on suspicion of three counts of first-degree methamphetamine trafficking and other drug-related offenses, theft and altering serial numbers on the handgun.
The investigation is ongoing.
Man hospitalized after being hit by car
A 44-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday after he was hit by a car while walking in traffic in Kihei, Maui police said.
The man was walking against traffic in the northbound lane of South Kihei Road when he was hit by an oncoming 2014 Ford sedan driven by a San Mateo, Calif., woman, police said.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. near Ala Koa Street.
Paramedics took the Wailea man to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The driver was not injured.
Girl arrested over threat against woman
Police arrested a 16-year-old girl Monday after she threatened a woman with a dangerous instrument in Kaimuki, police said.
The girl chased the woman with a dangerous instrument in the Waialae Avenue area at about 5 p.m., causing the woman to fear for her safety, police said.
Officers arrested the girl for investigation of first-degree terroristic threatening.
