Wahine softball beats Coastal Carolina
Rachel Lack drove in a career-high five runs to lead the University of Hawaii softball team to an 8-4 win over Coastal Carolina today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Lack drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning then hit a two-run homer to center field in the fifth. She came up with the bases loaded in the sixth and drilled a single up the middle to score UH’s final two runs.
UH senior Keiki Carlos preceded Lack’s blast by leading off the bottom of the fifth with her first home run of the season. The power surge gave freshman pitcher Jennifer Iseri a cushion after Coastal Carolina had closed to 3-2 on two solo homers in the top of the fifth.
Iseri gave up eight hits struck out two and walked none in her second complete-game victory of the tournament and UH rebounded from a run-rule loss to Stanford on Saturday.
The Wahine (12-9) have a day off before facing Coastal Carolina (8-12) again in a stand-alone game on Tuesday. They then open the four-day Chevron Spring Fling against California on Wednesday.
