Moped driver dies after hitting pedestrian in Makaha
Speed may have been a factor in a early morning crash today that killed a moped driver after he struck a pedestrian in Makaha, police said.
The driver, a 33-year-old Waianae man, was travelling at a high rate of speed on Farrington Highway when he struck a pedestrian near Moua Street about 1:10 a.m., police said.
The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the moped and taken to a hospital where he died.
The pedestrian, a 32-year-old man, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
It was the 4th traffic fatality on Oahu this year compared to 11 at this time last year.

The moped driver was on a mission to get on Hawaii News Now.
At least the dumb driver won’t be killing anyone else after this. But I do feel sorry for the man who was hit and is now in critical condition. If only Jesus had stepped in a few seconds sooner.
