Hawaiian Electric Co. President and CEO Alan Oshima received total compensation of $1.4 million in 2015, according to a year-end filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Parent company Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. reported Tuesday the salaries of six of HECO’s top executives. The salary of Connie Lau, president and CEO of HEI, was not included. Lau’s annual compensation likely will be filed soon with the SEC when the company files its proxy statement. HEI is in the midst of ongoing hearings with the state Public Utilities Commission over its proposed $4.3 billion sale to Florida-based NextEra Energy Inc.
Oshima’s 2015 compensation was nearly double the reported $824,100 for the previous year, but that 2014 pay package did not include all his compensation for the entire year. Oshima, who was appointed president and CEO of HECO on Oct. 1, 2014, received $824,100 from May 19 through Dec. 31 of that year. Effective May 19 and up to his appointment as CEO, Oshima served as a senior HECO officer on loan from HEI. Prior to May 19, Oshima was HEI’s executive vice president of corporate and community advancement. His HEI compensation was not included in Tuesday’s filing.
HECO Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Tayne Sekimura made $725,324 in 2015, a big drop from $1.4 million in 2014 primarily due to reduced stock awards and a change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation.
Stephen McMenamin, senior vice president and chief information officer, received a pay package worth $659,479 in 2015 compared with $860,524 in 2014.
Jim Alberts, senior vice president of customer service, made $512,901 in 2015. Jay Ignacio, president and CEO at Hawaii Electric Light Co., received $571,864 in 2015. The filing did not include what Alberts and Ignacio made in 2014.
Patricia Wong, former senior vice president of corporate services for HECO, earned $846,380 in 2015 versus $1.4 million in 2014. Wong retired Dec. 30.
