Couple, 4 kids die after generator hooked to propane tank in Michigan home
FENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. » A generator hooked up to a propane tank in the basement of a Fenton Township, Michigan, home is believed to be responsible for the carbon monoxide death of a couple and their four children.
Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell tells reporters today that the man’s body was found next to the generator.
The mother’s body was found near a crib containing the body of a 2-year-old.
Pickell says a 9-year-old “boy was in the living room, dressed to go out and play and it looked like he just dropped in his spot.”
The body of a 7-year-old girl was found in the master bathroom while her 11-year-old brother was found in his bedroom.
The home near Flint lost power during a storm Friday night.

sad that this trend needlessly continues. there needs to be more education about this silent killer.
This angers me to no end. WHY in this day and age are people still dying from the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning? This could have been avoided, very easily.
Yes. Very unfortunate. If only the generator was placed outside the house.
Any hardware store will carry a carbon monoxide detector.
Weather and lack of common sense contributed the death of family of 6. Sad!
In that order?
Be careful with the propane or it will become a pro pain.
Am I the only one who takes time out to read every bit of instruction that comes along with ever piece of equipment? Heed what you read.
Here is a carbon monoxide incident that happened here several years ago.
A family was barbecuing using a hibachi outside when it started to rain. They brought the hibachi inside the house into an enclosed patio to keep the food warm as a the fire itself had burnt out and only red coals were left. One of the children, a boy who slept near the enclosed and patio died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The rest of the family suffered poisoning but survived. The glowing coals released carbon monoxide into the kitchen/patio where the boy slept on a punee (day bed). The gas got to some of the other family members who woke with headaches.
The label says to use charcoal outdoors only.
What a terrible tragedy. A whole family gone because the father thought running a generator indoors was a smart idea.
Same enclosure applies with the garage door. I prefer the overhead door that has a grid type with ventilation. 1111 Alakea. Street court house has that type.
