2 people shot, sheriff’s deputy hit by car in 2-county chase

ATLANTA » A two-county car chase east of metro Atlanta ended with a sheriff’s deputy injured, two suspects shot and two more on the run.

The AJC.com reports that according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at about 9 a.m. today, Rockdale County deputies responding to a burglary call in Conyers spotted a car matching the description of the suspects’ vehicle. A deputy attempted a traffic stop but the car drove off.

The suspects drove about four miles before slowing down to let two people jump out. As of Sunday evening they had not been apprehended.

The GBI says the vehicle then struck a deputy and other deputies fired into the car.

The deputies followed the suspects 10 miles into DeKalb County where the chase ended when deputies bumped the vehicle, immobilizing it.

The suspects and the deputy all suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The GBI is investigating.
