Authorities say driver intentionally hit, killed jogger
WALNUT, Calif. » A driver has been arrested after authorities say he deliberately ran down and killed a jogger in a Los Angeles suburb.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says 36-year-old Haissan Massalkhy of West Covina was booked Monday on suspicion of murder.
He was jailed on $1 million bail. It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
Authorities say shortly before 6 a.m., Massalkhy’s Toyota Camry struck 59-year-old Chi Shao of Walnut, who was jogging in a Walnut bike lane.
Authorities say the jogger was carried several yards on the car’s hood before it went off the road and smashed into a backyard brick wall.
Sheriff’s Lt. David Buckner says it appears the driver intentionally struck the jogger although they didn’t know each other.

And the poor victim was just exercising.
Many Oahu drivers would love to mow down bicyclists if given the chance.
Agreed, as was shown on these very pages when the new downtown bike lanes were the story.
What you talking about? I haven’t met anyone in Hawaii who thinks like PinkSushi.
agree..it might have been road rage. I bike a lot and am yelled at by cars veering off for guys to scream bizarre things at me. Scary out there.
This is making me think twice about walking my puppies along a roadway.
A crime gone wrong. Jogger was supposed to be run over and under the car. Not rising on top of the hood for the forensic evidence.
Working on getting yourself banned again I see.
Most lively commentators have already be banned, only a small crowd left now.
Jogger might have given the driver the middle finger salute after a road altercation between car and jogger and the driver in return decided to make the jogger a permanent hood ornament.
