1 injured, home destroyed by Wahiawa house fire

Although firefighters quickly brought an early morning house fire under control in Wahiawa this morning, the house was deemed a complete loss. One man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Paramedics treated a man in his 60s for smoke inhalation and took him to the hospital in serious condition following a fire that destroyed a one-story home in Wahiawa early this morning.

Nine fire companies with 31 firefighters arrived at 63 Ilima St. at 5:23 a.m. to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. The blaze was brought under control 30 minutes later.

Four people were in the building when the fire was reported.

A fire investigator also was called to determine cause of the fire.

There was no immediate damage assessment.

The American Red Cross has been notified to assist the family.

    House fires are always a terrible thing to happen. I can even smell the smoke just looking at the picture.
