A 33-year-old man was charged Saturday with taunting an employee while stealing items from a business in Kailua.
Dane Yano of Kailua was charged with fourth-degree theft and harassment. His bail was set at $2,000.
Police said Yano took items valued at less than $100 and taunted a 42-year-old woman during the theft at about 2:35 p.m. Saturday. Officers arrested Yano 20 minutes later.
Man charged with belting a teenage boy
A 36-year-old man was charged Saturday with punching a 16-year-old boy in Waianae.
Ronald Ceon of Waianae was charged with third-degree assault. His bail was set at $2,000.
Police said Ceon punched the boy at about 6 p.m. Friday, causing substantial bodily injury, and also threatened him with a dangerous instrument.
Furlough inmate arrested, sent to OCCC
A work furlough inmate who failed to show up for a meeting with his case manager Thursday was arrested Sunday and sent to the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
Gilbert Rivera Jr. was up for parole in May and had been assigned to the Laumaka minimum-security work furlough center, a block from OCCC. He had been serving time for second-degree burglary and second-degree theft, but now faces an escape charge as well.
Laumaka is for inmates who are at the community-custody level and are either seeking work or already holding down jobs.
