Vandyon Lockett made all 12 of his field-goal attempts and finished with 28 points and Salim Gloyd added 23, but the Hawaii Hilo men’s basketball team lost to Fresno Pacific 106-96 in Fresno, Calif. The Vulcans dropped to 5-13, 5-9 PacWest. Gabe Solarin had 28 points and Madison Higgins added 24 for the Sunbirds (12-9,7-7).

Stephen Grosey had 15 points and 13 rebounds and JT Roach also scored 15 points for the Eagles (20-3, 13-2 PacWest).

Mackenzie leads HPU women to victory
Breanna Mackenzie scored 27 points and Aminata Cole had 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team defeated Concordia (Calif.) 87-68 on Thursday in Irvine, Calif. Cece Pearl and Jessi Reeves each added 12 points for the Sharks (13-8, 10-4 PacWest). Tyler Crockom had 20 points for the Eagles (2-18, 1-14).

Hawaii men in 11th at Waikoloa Kings
The University of Hawaii men’s golf team is in 11th place after shooting a 1-over-par 289 in the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational on Thursday at Waikoloa Kings Course.
Stanford and Southern Cal are tied for the lead at 278. Hawaii Hilo is tied for 12th at 290.
Oregon State’s Conner Kumpula leads at 6-under 66 and Stanford’s David Boote is second at 67.
Hawaii’s James Moran-Hortan and Hawaii Hilo’s Kyeton Littel are tied for 29th at 71.
