A 39-year-old Department of Land and Natural Resources enforcement officer, accused of sexually assaulting a girl, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Circuit Court in Hilo and pleaded not guilty to five counts of sexual assault.
Ethan Ferguson, a Hilo resident, was indicted Thursday on two counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. He pleaded not guilty Tuesday before Judge Greg Nakamura.
Hawaii County police said the girl reported Jan. 1 that she was at a beach park in Hilo when Ferguson allegedly approached her in uniform and sexually assaulted her.
Nakamura allowed Ferguson to remain free on $13,000 bond under conditions, including making no contact with the girl, her family or witnesses.
A jury trial is scheduled for June 6.
