Hawaii County authorities have charged a 24-year-old Hilo man with two copper thefts in June.
Police said a 52-year-old man reported 128 pounds of copper had been removed June 23 and 25 from his warehouse in the Panaewa area of Hilo. Police said they later learned Greg Branco had recycled the copper, valued at $194, without permission from the owner.
Police arrested Branco on Saturday.
He was charged Monday with theft of copper, and his bail was set at $2,000. He was also charged on an unrelated bench warrant for failure to appear.
