NextEra hearings resume
Jim Ajello, chief financial officer of Hawaiian Electric Industries took the stand today at the Neil S. Blaisdell as the Public Utilities Commission resumed hearings about NextEra Energy Inc.’s purchase of that state’s largest electric utility.
In December, the PUC extended the hearings beyond the original 12 days set aside for regulators and interested groups to question the companies about the sale. The deal needs the approval of the PUC to close.
PUC Chair Randy Iwase called Ajello as an additional witness after the 12 original expert witnesses testified on behalf of the $4.3 billion buyout. Ajello was one of the lead negotiators for HEI when drafting the sale.
The hearings will continue though Feb. 10 at the same location in a Blaisdell conference room. The hearings held between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. are open to the public. They are being broadcast live on Oleo.

make them squirm Iwase!
And what did the CFO have to say??
This is all just Kabuki theater with Iwase wasting taxpayer money for bs hearings that won’t make any difference, this deal was approved before Connie even announced it. Hawaii has the best monopoly party politicians money can buy.
